This "Getting Started" guide is designed to assist you in the installation of your new product. By following this step-by-step guide, you should have your new firewall up and running in no time!

This guide covers products both from the Amaranten Firewall Appliance Series and from the Amaranten Firewall Software Series. The installation procedure is similar for both types of products. Some differences exist though, and those are clearly indicated.

Amaranten Firewall Appliance products and Amaranten Firewall Software installed on a stand-alone hardware will be referred to as Firewall Hardware throughout this guide.

Step-by-step Installation

The following steps outline the entire set-up of a complete Amaranten Firewall system:

1. Perform initial preparations

If you are installing a product from the Amaranten Firewall Appliance Series, read the instructions in Amaranten Firewall Appliance preparations.

If you are installing a product from the Amaranten Firewall Software Series, read the instructions in Amaranten Firewall Software preparations.

2. Attach all required connectors to the firewall hardware.

3. Install the firewall management software on your workstation or server.

4. Run the New Firewall Wizard in the management software.

5. Supply base network information on the firewall console.

6. Your new Amaranten Firewall is up and running, ready to be managed!
